Your account and your name

Back to help

What a buyer sees about you, how to show less of it, and how to take it all back.

What a buyer sees

A public profile carries the name you chose, a handle, a photograph if you uploaded one, the month you joined, how many listings you have live and the reviews people left. Nothing else from your account is public.

Selling without your name

You can hide your name. Chux keeps it in the database, because a moderator has to be able to answer for an account, and drops it at the edge: it stops appearing on your listings, on your profile and in the API. Reviews you already have stay, attached to the account rather than to the name.

The verified badge

The badge is granted by a person, not by a form: staff check the document and the account behind it. It is recorded with who granted it and when, and it can be withdrawn the same way.

Taking your data back

You can ask for a copy of everything Chux holds about you, or ask for the account to be deleted. Both are requests to a person and both are answered within the month the law allows, usually sooner. Some records survive a deletion because the law says they must: an invoice, a moderation decision, a fraud report.
